Golden Mile House

Golden Mile House

Scope: Interior Design, Bespoke Fabrication, Furnishing, Object and Art

Architecture: Akehurst Owen Cimino | Photography: Armelle Habib | Styling: Carrie Hawker

Working against the elegant backdrop of architecture by Akehurst Owen Cimino, Coote & Co crafted interiors alive with warmth and personality for a young family. With a few treasured pieces by Stuart Rattle as a starting point, the brief was to create a home that felt approachable and comfortable. Infinitely beautiful, but never ostentatious. With the trust of our clients, we embarked on a joyful journey, weaving their passions and personalities into spaces that bring daily delight.
The master suite embodies serenity and sophistication without stuffy formality. Every element speaks to craftsmanship: handmade bedside tables with dovetail joints and hand antiquing, a hammered metal and marble console shaped by artisans in the Macedon Ranges, bespoke lighting sourced from Europe, and soft furnishings made in Melbourne. A bespoke, handwoven wool and silk rug anchors the space, underscoring its timelessness and enduring quality. It is a room defined by calm, comfort and the quiet luxury of the hand made.
Beneath the house, an unused garage was transformed into the ultimate sports bar. A space unapologetically dark, atmospheric and inviting. Inspired by our client’s collection of sporting memorabilia, Ronaldo, Kobe, Tiger, Warne, Federer, Ali, the design balances masculine energy with refinement. Metaurus Oro marble, truffle grasscloth walls, and a high-gloss Autumn Orange ceiling set the tone, while bespoke joinery, mirrored shelving, brass detailing and a commanding quilted velvet sofa create richness and depth. With beer on tap, wine fridges and great glassware, playful touches, in a dart board and arcade table, this room is as much about fun as sophistication. It is, without question, our client’s favourite room in the house.
This is a home for family, for friends, and for joy. From cabana to loggia, library to bar, each space serves its purpose with intent. Guest bedrooms pulse with colour, texture and art, offering moments of escape, while shared living areas invite gathering and connection. The result is a house designed not just to be admired, but to be lived in fully, elegant and authentic.
