This project transformed a dated 1980s terracotta-tiled rental into a refined, light-filled family retreat. Rather than leaning on the familiar blue-and-white coastal palette, we pursued a fresher direction, crisp white and tropical green. This was complimented with natural textures of European oak, travertine, sisal and fresh white walls. The restrained foundation allows the furnishings and details to take centre stage.
Outdoors, the entertaining area was completely redesigned with a new pool, travertine paving, and a bespoke undercover dining pavilion with a full outdoor kitchen, perfectly suited to long summer evenings with family and friends.
A vibrant commissioned artwork by Robert Doble anchors the heart of the home, carrying green tones into the white kitchen and infusing the space with energy and joy.
We crafted a design narrative around the pineapple, an enduring emblem of warmth and hospitality dating back to the 18th Century. As the residence plays host to several generations of a large family as well as friends from across Australia, the pineapple was a fitting motif to weave through the interiors. It appears in subtle ways, in our iconic lamps, in textile patterns, and even in joinery hardware. Extending beyond the furniture, we commissioned a bespoke porcelain dinner service and set of outdoor melamine plates adorned with the design. The result is a narrative that is at once playful and meaningful, a unifying thread that celebrates the tradition and spirit of welcome at the heart of this home.
