Sorrento Clifftop House

Sorrento Clifftop House

Scope: Furnishing

Photography: Armelle Habib

Tucked into the coastal landscape of Sorrento, this contemporary new build was designed as the primary residence for a young couple and their two children. The brief called for a home that felt relaxed, playful, and inherently connected to its surrounding. A place where the family could entertain friends and extended family year-round while creating lasting memories as their children grew.
From the outset, it was important that the interiors felt natural and unforced. A palette of soft whites, sandy neutrals, and sky blues set the foundation, layered with timber, travertine, limestone, wicker, and sisal for their raw, tactile qualities. Each material was chosen for its natural character and texture, celebrating imperfection while grounding the home in its coastal setting.
A touch of playfulness and subtle humour was equally central to the design. Unexpected yet charming details were woven into textiles, wallpapers, and lighting, bringing life and personality to every room. Lobster wallpaper in the powder room, seashell-inspired sconces, and coral motifs in fabrics are just a few examples of how this playful charm was brought to life, engaging the senses and inviting tactile curiosity.
Custom-made furniture pieces were generous in scale, carefully considered in relation to both the volume of the architecture and the surrounding landscape. Each piece has a story, a distinct purpose, and a quiet sense of presence. The outdoor furnishings are effortlessly elegant, yet robust, offering comfort in every season - a summer drink by the pool or a mulled wine by the fire in winter.
The result is a home that feels timeless, playful, and authentic. Its interiors capture the spirit of Sorrento, offering the perfect backdrop for a young family’s memories and the joys of life by the sea.
